Chelsea star Eden Hazard and Manchester United number one David De Gea are on a shortlist of 12 players wanted by Real Madrid ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Marca. The Spanish publication claims that Los Blancos officials have already started to plan for next season after a turbulent campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu which may yet still end without silverware.

Real Madrid have already booked a place in the Champions League quarter-final after a comfortable 4-0 victory on aggregate over Roma. Yet, Los Blancos were thrown out of the Copa Del Rey earlier in the season for fielding an ineligible player, when Rafa Benitez was still on charge and already appear to have waved goodbye to the La Liga title with a 12-point gap to Barcelona and only 10 games to go.

Marca claims the club have begun to draw up their summer plans to strengthen Zinedine Zidane's ranks ahead of next season with a big shopping list of up to 12 players. This doesn't mean that all will move to the Bernabeu but Real Madrid are said to have initiated talks with players or their agents to sound out availability in the summer.

The wish list, according to the Spanish prestigious publication, includes:

Goalkeeper

Even though Keylor Navas is having an impressive campaign, Marca says some Real Madrid officials consider it "irresistible" to make a new approach to secure United star who will be Spain's number one for years to come. Real believe negotiations will not be as tough as last year when De Gea agreed to include a €40m (£31m, $44.3m) buy-out clause in his contract and signed a new deal with the Premier League.

Centre-back

The report claims that Real Madrid have three different options to bolster the heart of the defence, with Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos, Athletic Bilbao's Aymeric Laporte and Everton's John Stones. The trio, nevertheless, are expected to be the subject of a transfer battle this summer with all being linked to Barcelona as well as a number of Premier League clubs.

Left-back

Los Blancos also want to bolster the full-back position as Marcelo is currently the only specialist in the position following the summer departure of Fabio Coentrao. Bayern Munich star David Alaba would be the priority but Marca points out that Ricardo Rodríguez, from Wolfsburg, is the "most realistic option".

Zidane has identified three different options for his midfield. Paul Pogba to give power to his imbalanced ranks, Eden Hazard to add more talent and Schalke 04 starlet Leroy Sane who would offer pace. The French boss has publicly admitted his admiration in the past for both the Juventus coveted midfielder and the Chelsea star.

With the future of the BBC – Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo – up in the air, Los Blancos have also earmarked the signing of a new Galactico to lead Zidane's attacking line and it is Barcelona ace Neymar who is emerging as the most shocking option – but also the most unlikely. The club also has its radar on the Bundesliga duo Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
