Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with 5.5in Screen in September? Round up of Other Probable Features
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to feature a 5.5in Super AMOLED screen.
There have been rumours for some time now that Samsung is planning the next generation of its Galaxy Note, otherwise to be called Galaxy Note 2. The latest information comes from a GSM Arena report that cites inside sources as confirming the screen size of the gadget. The next-gen Note will reportedly feature a screen size of 5.5in (the present model has a 5.3in display) but the width has been reduced, compared to the current model.
When Will Note 2 Arrive?
It is interesting that the expected released date of the Galaxy Note 2 (unconfirmed by Samsung so far) has been moved to September. A report by UbuntuLife had earlier stated the Note 2 could have an October release. however, any discussion into release dates is speculation - a third report, by Android.gs - suggested a Christmas release.
A possible reason behind this release is the Korean giant's plan to compete against the rumoured launch of Apple's iPhone 5, Korean newspaper MK Business News speculates. We believe Apple is likely to unveil its next-gen iPhone in October, given that the present model - the iPhone 4S - came out the same time last year.
Another reason could be the success the Galaxy Note enjoys. A Korean Times report suggested Samsung Electronics was now leading the smartphone industry, on the strength of the present Galaxy Note's performance. The company claims to have sold two million units in the domestic (Korean) market, as of April. It was launched in November. Company forecasts suggest this figure will reach three million soon. In addition, they claim also to have sold seven million Galaxy Note products globally.
Possible Features
The design of the Galaxy Note 2 could well take its cue from that of the newly launched Galaxy S3 and feature technology found in that smartphone. This includes S Beam, S Voice and Near Field Communication (NFC).
Display: The Galaxy Note 2 could have a 5.5in Super AMOLED display like the Galaxy S3. The Note 2, according to an earlier report, was expected to come with a 5.3in flexible LCD display.
Camera: Recent reports claim the Note 2 will have an eight megapixel camera with an improved sensor. This contradicts earlier claims of a high resolution 12 megapixel unit.
Processor and RAM: The Note 2 is expected to pack an Exynos 5250 dual-core Cortex A-15 with 2GB RAM. However, the Note 2, according to Android.gs, could pack the Exynos 4412 quad-core chip clocked at 1.4GHz with 1.5GB of RAM.
Battery: The device could be powered by a non-removable 3100mAh battery. The rumoured battery capacity is higher, compared to the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S3.
S-Pen: The Galaxy Note 2 could feature the second generation S-Pen, which Samsung has reportedly been working on, uSwitch reports. The new S-Pen will have a built-in wireless headset and NFC capabilities. The Galaxy Note and Galaxy S3 are the only other devices to feature such technology.
Connectivity and Storage: The global version of the Note is expected to offer 4G LTE connectivity. As far as onboard memory is concerned, there is no information as yet.
