Samsung readies for the launch of its newest Gear S2 smartwatch in the UK Samsung

Unveiled at the IFA 2015 trade show, Samsung's smartwatch that comes in two different editions -- Gear S2 and S2 Classic -- will arrive in the UK on 12 November. Pre-orders for the smartwatches, powered with the native-grown Tizen OS, will commence on 29 October.

With a suggested retail price of £249, the Gear S2 will come in a dark grey case with a dark grey band and a silver case with a white band. The S2 Classic will be just £50 more, at £299, and available in a black case with a leather band.

Both smartwatches sport a circular design, custom UX and a host of advanced features allowing users to enhance and personalise their mobile experience. Rotating bezels as well as home and back buttons offer quick and easy access to notifications and applications.

The 1GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512 RAM drive powers the device. Other key features are 1.2in circular screen with resolution at 360 x 360p, 11.4 mm thin design, 3G, NFC support, 4GB storage and two days of battery life (for the Gear S2, Samsung says users can get two/three days of battery).

Samsung has also announced the opening of its experimental showcase -- the Galaxy Studio -- from 23 October to 3 November in Westfield, London. The studio will offer an opportunity to visitors to experience the Gear S2 and the company's other products.
