Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed youngster Ruben Lameiras will leave the club to join Atvidabergs in Sweden.

Lameiras, a Portuguese attacking midfielder, was snapped up by the north London club in 2011 but has failed to make a telling impact at the club.

Tottenham have not disclosed a fee for the 20-year-old but confirmed via their official website on 26 March they had reached an agreement with the Swedish side.

Lameiras did not make a single appearance for the club having spent the last three-and-a-half years drifting between the club's under-18 ranks and the under-21s.

His involvement this season came for Ugo Ehiogu's Under-21 side, featuring in eight games, five of which he started, scoring once.

Lameiras will link up with Atvidabergs ahead of the start of the new Swedish league season, which runs from March to November.

Two other players have also left Tottenham's Under-21 ranks in the past weeks. Ahead of the closure of the Football League emergency loan window – which closed on 26 March – the club opted to allow both Shaquile Coulthirst and Grant Ward to leave on loan deals until the end of the season.

Coulthirst, the 21-year-old forward who made his first-team debut for Spurs last season against Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League, joined York City to help the club in their bid to survive relegation from League Two.

Ward, meanwhile, joined Coventry City, who are in a dogfight to retain their League One status. The 20-year-old midfielder spent 2014 on loan with Chicago Fire in the MLS.
