Six NATO soldiers including two British soldiers belonging to the 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment have been killed, in two green on blue attacks over the weekend. One incident at a checkpoint south of Nahr-e Saraj and the other in Zabol in Afghanistan's Helmand province.

Brigadier General Gunter Katz an International Security Assistance Force spokesman made two announcements of the deaths during a press conference.

At least 51 foreign military personnel have been killed in "insider" or green on blue attacks this year. The attacks have put a heavy strain on trust between the coalition and Afghanistan as they move towards handing security responsibility to Afghan forces by the end of 2014. And the rise in such attacks has led to the training of new recruits to the Afghan army and police being suspended.
