ITV have confirmed they will be replacing Adrian Chiles as their main football presenter with immediate effect.

BBC Radio 5 Live Mark Pougatch will take over from Chiles to anchor ITV's coverage of Chelsea's game against Paris St-Germain on 17 February.

The broadcaster did not give any reason for replacing Chiles, who is reported to have earned more than £4.6m a year, or whether he still has a role at the broadcaster.

The decisions follows confirmation that pundit Andy Townsend and presenter Matt Smith's contracts will not be renewed at the end of the current season either.

Pougatch said: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining ITV and to be given this great opportunity," he said. "I'm looking forward to working with ITV's talented pool of commentators and pundits on some of the very best football there is."

ITV Director of Sport, Niall Sloane, added: "Mark is a highly respected sports journalist and an outstanding broadcaster. We're delighted to welcome Mark to the ITV Sport team."
