Alan Rickman
1988: Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber in Die Hard Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation

Legendary British actor Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69 after a battle with cancer. Tributes have already begun pouring in from across the globe, with Stephen Fry being one of the first to tweet about the "desperately sad news".

Although he is most popularly known for his role as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies, Rickman has had hundreds of other appearances in films, plays and TV shows. The film star won 15 film awards during his career, including one Golden Globe for his role in the 1996 HBO biopic Rasputin. The Die Hard actor has also been nominated nearly 30 times.
