Anastacia was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in February.

US singer Anastacia has revealed that she has undergone a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time.

The I'm Outta Love hitmaker, who successfully battled the disease a decade ago, chose to have the procedure to increase her chances of a full recovery.

In a message to her fans she confirmed that she was "in the final stages of recovery" and was "ready to start the next chapter".

"In light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month l wanted to take the opportunity to support a cause particularly close to my heart," she said.

"l was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time earlier this year and am currently in the final stages of recovery after undergoing a double mastectomy.'

She added: "It has been an intense journey but l am feeling great and ready to start the next chapter.

"Breast Cancer Awareness Month gives all who are facing this disease a chance to gain strength and support from each other.

"Early detection has saved my life twice. I will continue to battle and lend my voice in any way I can."

In February the 45-year-old star was forced to cancel her European tour after receiving news of her condition.

She had been scheduled to play 13 dates across Europe in April to promote her latest album It's A Man's World.

"I feel so awful to be letting down all my amazing fans who were looking forward to the It's A Man's World tour," she said at the time. "It just breaks my heart to disappoint them."

She was treated with surgery and radiotherapy when she was first diagnosed with the disease in 2003.
