Preview: Arsenal head into their first home game of the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League in some indifferent form but Arsene Wenger will be hoping their victory over Bolton on Saturday will kick start their season and Arsenal will head into their clash with Olympiakos in confident mood. Even though Arsenal have a very strong record against Greek opponents, Arsene Wenger is still mindful of the threat Olympiakos pose to his Arsenal side.
"We know we are a train that left the station a bit late, so we cannot afford any more to drop our consistency," Wenger said. "Any victory will help us. I've always been optimistic because I feel the players are mentally strong and focused," the Arsenal manager said.
"We have a lot of respect for Olympiakos. I've seen the game against Marseille; they played well. In the Champions League, you never win easy," Wenger added.
Olympiakos have failed to win any of their nine away games in the Champions League against English opposition, losing all nine and conceding 29 goals along the way.
Last season, Arsenal scored 14 home goals in the Champions League group stages and defeated Braga 6-0 in their first home match of the 2010/11 Champions League campaign.
If Arsenal scores this evening, it will be their two-hundredth goal in the competition.
