Norris Wins Dutch GP, but Antonelli Leaves 59 Points Clear as Russell and Hamilton Tie
Norris claims victory in Zandvoort's last F1 race; Antonelli extends championship lead

Lando Norris won a dramatic Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, but Kimi Antonelli emerged with an even stronger grip on the Formula One drivers' championship.
Norris recovered from losing the lead after an early red flag to beat Antonelli by 11.536 seconds. George Russell completed the podium, while Lewis Hamilton finished less than a second behind him in fourth.
Antonelli's second-place finish moved him to 242 points, leaving him 59 clear of Russell and Hamilton, who are tied on 183. Russell holds second place on countback because he has won two races this season compared with Hamilton's one.
Norris Recovers After Losing Lead
Norris started from pole and retained first place during the opening lap, but the race was almost immediately stopped after Max Verstappen lost control of his Red Bull and crashed heavily into the barriers.
Verstappen reported that he was unhurt, although the accident ended the home favourite's final Dutch Grand Prix.
Antonelli produced a stronger launch when the race restarted and passed Norris at the first corner. The Mercedes driver then began building a lead as Norris searched for a way back into contention.
Changing tyre strategies reshuffled the leading positions, with Hamilton temporarily moving to the front. Norris returned to the fight during the closing stages and completed the decisive move on Lap 54.
The reigning world champion overtook Antonelli around the outside of Turn 1 before catching and passing Hamilton later on the same lap to reclaim the lead.
Norris controlled the remaining laps to secure his second consecutive victory following his success in Hungary.
Mercedes Order Puts Antonelli Second
A late virtual safety car triggered another round of pit stops and gave Antonelli fresh tyres for the final chase.
Russell stayed ahead on older tyres, but Mercedes instructed him to allow his championship-leading teammate through. Antonelli moved into second but could not close the gap to Norris before the chequered flag.
Russell held on to third despite late pressure from Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The Mercedes driver crossed the line only 0.849 seconds ahead of Hamilton, with Leclerc another half-second behind in fifth.
The team order proved significant for the championship. Antonelli collected 18 points instead of the 15 available for third, while Russell's result moved him level with Hamilton.
Russell remains officially second because his two race victories give him the advantage under Formula One's countback rules.
Norris Moves Back Into Title Picture
Norris collected 25 points and climbed to fourth in the championship with 159, moving four points ahead of Leclerc.
He remains 83 points behind Antonelli but is now only 24 behind Russell and Hamilton. Consecutive victories have therefore returned the McLaren driver to the edges of the title contest, even as Antonelli maintains a substantial advantage.
Oscar Piastri finished sixth for McLaren, followed by Liam Lawson, Nico Hülkenberg, Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly.
Zandvoort Hosts Final F1 Race
The event marked the final scheduled Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, ending the circuit's latest run on the Formula One calendar.
Norris became the last winner of the event after surviving the early restart, multiple strategy changes and a direct battle with the championship leader.
Formula One will return at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza from 4 to 6 September. Antonelli will arrive with a 59-point advantage, while Russell, Hamilton and the resurgent Norris continue the pursuit.
