Overview
Federer has made it to the last eight of the BNP Paribas Open after registering a straight set victory over Tommy Haas. The Swiss tennis star had to fight hard to win the first set as the outcome was decided over a tie breaker.
The former world No 1 won the first set 7-6 and had no much trouble in winning the second set as he won the match 7-6, 6-2. Federer has already won the competition in four occasions and a win on Sunday's final could see him extend the tally.
Meanwhile, his opponent, Anderson defeated 2014 Australian Open winner Stanislas Wawrinka in the earlier round to seal a place in the quarter finals of the BNP Paribas Open.
Anderson was unable to defeat Wawrinka in straight sets as he lost the second set. The match ended with scores 7-6, 4-6, 6-1. A victory for the South African over Federer will see him make it to the last four of the competition.
