One of the UK's most popular dishes was celebrated in London last night at what prime minister David Cameron has called 'the Oscars of the curry industry, the 2014 British Curry Awards.

As well as Mr Cameron, notable figures at the ceremony included home secretary Theresa May, former footballer David Seaman and comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli.

A pioneer in the UK catering and hospitality sector, the British Curry Awards has been lauded as a national institution in its own right – the first landmark event to celebrate the industry's achievements. The event is eagerly anticipated by the industry and restaurateurs alike, with winning restaurants realising lifetime dreams through being awarded top honours.
