The third day of the 66th Cannes Film Festival continued to mix glittering haute couture with the glamour of cinema, as celebrities took to the red carpet in fashionable gowns and dresses.
Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria shone in a Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 Couture gown, with a floor-sweeping train. The 38-year-old actress completed the look with a neat ponytail and Damiani jewellery.
Longoria was joined on the red carpet by Samantha Barks, the 23-year-old actress who played Eponine in the Oscar-winning 2012 musical LesMisérables, alongside Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway. Barks wore Dior.
French actress Berenice Bejo was also in attendance. The Argentine-born star of the 2012 Oscar winner for Best Picture, The Artist, dressed conventionally, sporting a navy coloured double-breasted tailored blazer. Bejo is promoting her new film Le Passe, the dramatic story of an Iranian man, his French wife and their children.
There was much more glamour to come, with Victoria's Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes in stunning form, in an Atelier Versace Fall 2012 gown with a side slit displaying her long legs and revealing cut-out detail.
French actress Sara Forestier was also at Cannes for the day and the 26-year-old Cesar Award winner, for both Best Actress and Most Promising Actress, wore a trendy black-and-white frock from the Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture collection.
Man Arrested for Bringing Gun, Fake Grenade to Cannes Film Festival
Amid all the glamour and glitz, there was a moment of madness on the red carpet. An unidentified man pointed a gun at Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz, during a live television show. The Oscar-winning actor was being interviewed, with fellow actor Daniel Auteuil, when two shots were fired.
"I was on a panel at the Studio Canal platform off the beach when a man produced a gun," he told the Mail, adding, "I think it was a pistol and he fired but luckily for me they were blanks."
"Then he shouted he had a grenade and again luckily for me there was no grenade. The police have him. They tackled him to the ground. I don't know who he was or where he came from or what his problem was," he added.
Waltz and Auteuil are both on the Cannes jury, which is chaired by director Steven Spielberg.
