Just when teen pop fans thought the Capital FM Summertime Ball couldn't get any better, organisers have announced that Zayn Malik has been added to the roster. The former One Direction heartthrob is expected to perform his smash hit single Pillowtalk as well as a selection of tracks from his number one album Mind of Mine at the star-studded event on 11 June.

He joins an impressive line-up which includes the likes of Jess Glynne, Nathan Skyes and Tinie Tempah. Will.i.am, Nick Jonas, Sigala, WSTRN, Ariana Grande, Zara Larsson, Lukas Graham, Years & Years, The Vamps, Little Mix, Flo Rida, Nathan Sykes, Craig David and Mike Posner will also belt out hits in front of 80,000 screaming fans at London's Wembley Stadium.

Although Malik previously performed at the event with his former bandmates Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles, they were one man down when they last played the gig in June 2015.

Following the announcement, Capital's managing editor Ashley Tabor said: "We've ended an incredible week on a high with the news that international superstar Zayn will be joining us for Capital's Summertime Ball – his first stage performance in the UK as a solo artist.

"We can't wait to welcome Zayn to the stage at Wembley Stadium together with all the other huge acts for this summer's biggest party!"

Malik's performance will see him reunited with former fiancé Perrie Edwards, who will also be taking to the stage with Little Mix on the same date. The pair – who met on The X Factor – called off their two-year engagement in July 2015 amid allegations of cheating and weeks after he quit 1D. He has since moved on with model Gigi Hadid while she remains single.
