While the countdown for the 85th Academy Awards to be held in Hollywood, Los Angeles, has already begun, Paris just wound up its national film awards for France, the Cesar awards.

French Film Amour, which has already won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, a Golden Globe and many other awards internationally, was seen taking the lead in the Césars award ceremony that was held at held at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris, France on 22 February.

Written and directed by the German-born Austrian film-maker Michael Haneke, Amour, starring Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva, is the story of an elderly couple both of who are retired music teachers and have their daughter living abroad. Haneke won the award for the best film, best director and best screenplay. The titles for the best actress and actor were won by Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Louis Trintignant respectively.

Haneke, who is currently in Los Angeles as Amour is also in the running for an Oscar, was not at the Cesar Awards.
