Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis has rejected an approach by Real Madrid claiming he doesn't want to leave Stamford Bridge unless it is to return to Atletico Madrid, reports in Spain claim.

The Brazil international moved to west London in the summer of 2014 for around £16m ($24.7m) alongside his former Atletico Madrid teammates Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois, who returned to Stamford Bridge after three successful seasons on loan in La Liga.

But having garnered a reputation as one of the best left-backs in Europe during his time at the Vicente Calderon, he has failed to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta.

Luis started only nine Premier League games during the whole campaign with several reports claiming he has grown frustrated at the lack of playing time and is ready to leave Jose Mourinho's side just one year after his arrival.

Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in having him back in La Liga while manager Diego Simeone recently suggested both him and Radamel Falcao will be welcome back in his squad.

"I am grateful to all the guys who have been here. If you ask me about Falcao is the same. Falcao has been a reference for Atletico Madrid. Anyone who has gone through the club and has left a mark in the club like these two guys always will be seen in special way. But this doesn't mean they will return. It is not easy," Simeone said last month.

And now Spanish newspaper Marca revealed that Rafa Benitez's new side also recently approached the player through an intermediary regarding a summer move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are said to be looking for a replacement for out of favour Fabio Coentrao and after failing to secure Valencia youngster Jose Luis Gaya, who was their first-choice, tried to take advantage of Luis struggling situation at the Blues to temp him with a move back to La Liga.

But even though Luis spent time at the Los Blancos second team Castilla as a youngster, the Spanish publication claimed he immediately rejected the approach from Rafa Benitez's side and "told his agent Jorge Mendes that he does not want to leave Blues unless it is to link back up with Simeone".
