Fredy Guarin
Guarin has no interest in joining Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has held talks with the agent of Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin ahead of a potential January transfer window bid for the Colombian.

Mourinho has previously denied any interest in signing players in the New Year with the Blues just two points off the Premier League summit.

But according to Guarin, his agent has entered into talks with the Chelsea boss but the Inter man he has no interest in leaving for the Premier League.

"I can not deny there is something, I haven't spoken with Mourinho but my agent did," Guarin told reporters. "However, I hope Inter consider my will to stay."

Guarin has scored three goals in 17 Serie A games this season, his latest striker coming in the 3-3 draw with Parma earlier this month.

Inter director Marco Fassone told Rai Radio 1: "We keep him tight.

"He's a very talented player, he has a great market value and there are many requests for him. He is a champion that [Walter] Mazzarri has been able to valorise."

The revelation that Mourinho has held talks with Guarin's agent comes as a surprise merely because Chelsea are overrun with options in that area.

With Jon Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard, Ramires and Marco van Ginkel is reserve Chelsea are a healthy number of with options in the middle of midfield.

Despite showing inconsistent form this season, Chelsea are well in the race for the Premier League title, while they also finished top of their Champions League group.

Strikers Samuel Eto'o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba have misfired this season but Mourinho is not interested in bringing in new faces.

"Of course we want the best possible results but I am not waiting for players, I am not asking for players," Mourinho said earlier in December.

"This is a period for the club and this is a period of my team where we have to try and improve the players we have and try to build a future."
