Overview

The final on Sunday between the Super Kings and the Knight Riders will be the third time the two Indian Premier League (IPL) sides are facing each other. The first was between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, which was won by Mumbai.

The second one was during the last season after Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals in the finals. Mumbai are the only team to have won the competition on two occasions and Chennai Super Kings have the opportunity to equal the record on Saturday, having won for the first time in 2010.

The defending IPL Champions are making it to the Champions League T20 finals for the first time in their history and would be looking to lift the trophy at Bangalore to become the holders for both the domestic T20 competition and also the CL T20.

During the semifinals, MS Dhoni's side had a comfortable victory over IPL rivals Kings XI Punjab. CSK registered a 65-run victory over Punjab and made it to the last two of the ongoing tournament.

Similarly, Kolkata had no trouble making it to the finals after as they chased a target of 141 runs with five balls to spare. Gautam Gambhir won by seven wickets. However, the Knight Riders suffered a massive blow after Sunil Narine was banned from bowling for his suspected action.

The West Indies spinner was reported for chucking by the umpires for the second time in the Champions League T20. Narine can be included in the playing XI, but will not be allowed to ball in the final.

This could be a massive boost for the Super Kings as Narine is the leading wicket taker with 12 wickets from five matches. His economy rate is also below six runs per over. Kolkata are surely going to miss him and it should be seen if they can manage to come on top.
