Honduras take on Ecuador in their second Group E fixture of the 2014 FIfa World Cup at the Arena da Baixada, Curitiba, on Friday.

Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is set for 11pm BST. Live coverage is on ITV 1 and UTV. Radio commentary of the game will be available on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Overview

Honduras are on a poor run coming into their second game of the World Cup with just one victory in eight matches in all competitions.

A rampant France humbled them 3-0 courtesy of Karim Benzema's brace and an own goal from Noel Valladares in their first World Cup game last Sunday.

Los Catrachos played most of the game with 10 men after Stoke City midfielder Wilson Palacios was sent off for picking up his second booking on the cusp of half-time.

Ecuador too suffered a defeat in their first match as they failed to prevent Switzerland from staging a comeback. Enner Valencia had headed home a free kick midway through the first half to put Reinaldo Rueda's side in the lead.

However, Ottmar Hitzfeld's side responded strongly after half-time with Admir Mehmedi and Haris Seferovic with the latter netting the winner late in injury time.

This game is a must win for both sides and the one failing to take all three points will have no chance of making it to the next round.

It is certainly an emotional clash for the Colombian managers from both camps as current Honduras manager Luis Suarez and Ecuador manager Reinaldo Rueda were once holding each other's position.

Suarez guided Ecuador into the knockout stages of the 2006 World Cup in Germany while Rueda guided Honduras into the Group Stages of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa for the first time in 28 years.

What Managers Say

Luis Suarez (Honduras): "They play better football now, and I like the team a lot more than I did when I was in charge. We achieved some great things together [in Ecuador] and I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of show of affection on the day of the game. We are aware of what we are playing for. It is very easy to think we could score a goal and be epic and historic, but I don't think that is the idea of this team. We are aware of the challenge we face and we are enjoying it. It is a privilege to be at a World Cup."

Reinaldo Rueda (Ecuador): "Honduras are a great team, we all know their ability. They didn't start well but they want and they need to win as much as we do. It's going to be such a tough game for us, and we'll be giving it all we've got for 90 minutes. Both sides will go at it fairly but they'll be battling for every ball. After it's over, we'll go back to being friends and we'll remember all the positive things we shared with the Honduran team and fans."
