Galavant
New series Galavant premieres tonight ABC

Galavant is a new musical comedy TV series premiering tonight and will stand in for Once Upon a Time during its midseason break.

Described by ABC as a four-week musical extravaganza, Galavant seems to have generated a positive buzz and promises to bring something different and quirky to TV at the start of 2015.

What is Galavant is about?

According to the official description of the series - Dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse) lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen) to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, the down-on-his-luck knight is ready to take revenge and restore his "happily ever after". But it won't be without a few twists and turns along the way.

Screenwriter/executive producer Dan Fogelman (of famed animation movies Tangled and Cars) teams up with Broadway and Hollywood award-winning musical team - composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast) and lyricist Glenn Slater (Tangled) - for the four-week comedy extravaganza.

Galavant premieres with two back-to-back, half-hour episodes - titled Pilot and Joust Friends - with Galavant accepting a quest to rescue a kingdom from its odious monarch, with hopes of winning back his lost lady love in the process, reports TV.com.

The show airs tonight, Sunday, 4 January at 8pm ET on ABC. Click here to watch Galavant live stream online.
