American actress Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning as she attended the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The 23-year-old actress, who won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her work in American Hustle, become an internet sensation for her white Christian Dior Haute Couture gown.

The white strapless dress had a black band around her waist and a matching one around the thighs.

Internet users instantly compared the outfit to Ariel's first dress as a human in The Little Mermaid and also made their own with sheets, blankets and other readily available household items.

I do love Jennifer Lawrence, but her dress looks like an old tampon that's spent the last year unravelling in your handbag. #goldenglobes

Meanwhile, at the award ceremony, Lawrence went on to praise director David O Russell and her cast members.

"Years ago, I watched a movie called 'I Heart Huckabees,' and I was so in awe and floored by this completely unchartered humor," she said. "So I googled who made it, and I saw that it was the same director from 'Three Kings' and 'Flirting with Disaster' and 'Spanking the Monkey.' I thought that this is the most brilliant man in every single way. And to think by some weird twist of fate that that's the same man who made my career what it is is so weird and wonderful. Thank you."

"I actually did watch all of the movies this year. Not all of them, but you know what I mean," she said. "I can say the women this year, it's such an honor to be nominated with you. I don't know why it's so terrifying. It's obviously a good thing. I don't know why I'm so scared. I'm sorry, but you guys were so incredible and unforgettable."

"I'm sorry I'm shaking so much," she said. "Don't ever do this again."

Jennifer Lawrence Photobombs Taylor Swift

The Hunger Games star had a playful moment and photobombed country singer Taylor Swift as she was being interviewed on the red carpet by E! host Ryan Seacrest.

"I was going to come in and push you down the stairs," Lawrence said.

The 24-year-old who was nominated for best original song for Sweeter Than Fiction from the film One Chance, looked gorgeous in a Carolina Herrera gown, and teamed it up with Christian Louboutin shoes, a Jimmy Choo clutch, and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.
