Featuring a 3D LCD 4.3in display, the HTC Evo 3D was released in July last year. The Evo 3D packs a Qualcomm dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and houses 1GB of RAM. It is powered by a Li-ion 1730mAh battery. The handset is equipped with a five megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone supports microSD card. The smartphone was launched with Android operating system (OS) v2.3 Gingerbread but now it can be upgradable to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).

Last month HTC announced a schedule for Android ICS update for its devices and Evo 3D is one among them which was scheduled for an update between June and July this year. The ICS update to all the listed HTC smartphones is expected to bring revamped user interface (UI), home screen folders and favourites tray, new lock screen actions, improved text inputs and spell-checking, a unified calendar and enhanced camera capabilities, according to Android Authority.

As per promise the Android 4.0.3 ICs update has begun rolling out for the HTC Evo 3D. First users to get the software update are from Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The Over-The-Air (OTA) update according to Android Authority is of 300MB and brings full-fledged set of Android 4.0.3 ICS improvement including UI version 3.6 from 3.0. Those users who have not received the ICS update yet can manually check by tapping Menu>>Setting>>System updates>>HTC software update>>Check. However Sprint users in the US have to wait for the update since there is no information when users will get the ICS update, reports Phandroid.

XDA Developers has brought the update file which includes instruction to get the latest ICS software update without updating hboot, reports Android Police.

a)-Download and copy modifies OTA to sdcard. (The download is of 274.43MB)

b)-Download and copy firmware as PG861MG.zip to sdcard. (This download is of 17.70MB)

c)-Install modified OTA from 4EXT Recovery.

d)-Now go to bootloader and install firmware.

e)-Boot into the new unrooted OTA ICS (with new radio old recovery old hboot)

f)-Now flash root.zip.
