Ilhan Omar Swipes at Paedophile Protection Party Trump: 'Somalia Executes Paedos, Not Elect Them'
Omar defends herself against Trump's remarks, accusing him of misinformation and distraction tactics.

Minneapolis Representative Ilhan Omar hits back at US President Donald Trump with fierce words, accusing him of trying to hide his own scandals while stirring hatred against her and Somali immigrants.
'The leader of the Pedophile Protection Party is trying to deflect attention from his name being all over the Epstein files,' she wrote on X.
'At least in Somalia they execute paedophiles, not elect them,' she added.

The controversy isn't just about political mudslinging. It's a reflection of a rising climate of hostility, misinformation, and targeted attacks that have put Ilhan Omar at the centre of a heated debate.
Omar, Somalia-born and proud, has become a symbol of both representation and controversy. Trump's recent comments aim to paint her and Somali immigrants in a negative light, but Omar's response cuts through the noise. She calls out what she sees as blatant attempts to distract from his own legal troubles.
Trump's attack on Somalia and Omar
During a TV interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business, Trump launched into a barrage of disparaging remarks.
'Somalia has come in here, what they've done to our country, these people, they've come into our country, and what they've done with that fake congresswoman. She's so bad,' Trump told Kudlow on Fox.
In January, he criticised Somalia, calling it 'the worst, most corrupt country on earth,' and linked its immigrants directly to issues in Minnesota.
His comments targeted Omar specifically, describing her as a 'fake congresswoman' and implying she's a problem for the US. The remarks echoed past criticisms, escalating his accusations against Somali Americans, especially Omar, who represents Minnesota's 5th District.
Trump's comments appeared to come from a place of frustration.
He's been under scrutiny over his alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein and ongoing investigations into his finances. Instead of addressing those issues directly, he chose to divert attention, blaming immigrants and Omar in particular. His words stirred anger among many, but they also ignited a fierce rebuttal from Omar herself.
Omar's fiery retort: the paedo party
In a social media post, Omar didn't hold back. She called Trump the 'leader of the Pedophile Protection Party," accusing him of trying to shift focus from Epstein-related scrutiny. Her words carried a punch. She highlighted that Somalia, her birthplace, executes pedophiles, contrasting sharply with Trump's accusations.
This is what the internet has been saying:
'Pro tip: Innocent people don't generally redact their own names from the files that prove their innocence,' someone on Facebook commented, alluding to the Epstein Files, Trump's name has been mentioned over one million times.
'All of trumplethinskin's DISTRACTIONS are focused on pushing the Epstein pedo files out of the public eye!! He knows another impeachment is on the way! He should be jailed for his disgusting behavior! How can he be in photos and have his name mentioned so much and not be prosecuted!' another Facebook user blasted the admin.
On Reddit, even thread commenters have been saying:
'What I love most is that when some MAGA zombie sprayed here with God knows what substance, she came out from behind the podium and chased him back. She was going to kick his ass. It was magnificent,' one replied.
'She seems smart and prepared that probably scares him more than Muslim and Somali,' another posted.
Last month, Trump questioned Omar's wealth, claiming she was worth over $30 million, suggesting she amassed her fortune illegitimately while serving in Congress.
Omar's financial disclosures, however, indicate her net worth surged significantly — a development that has fuelled Trump's accusations, though no formal charges have been filed.
The rhetoric isn't just political posturing. It's personal.
Omar has spoken openly about the toll it takes. She links increased threats and hostility directly to the inflammatory language from the highest levels of government. Recently, her security detail was increased after an attack at a town hall, where a man tried to spray her with what was later identified as apple cider vinegar.
The incident was treated as an assault, and authorities are investigating.
Omar believes her safety, and that of her community, is compromised by the toxic atmosphere created by political figures.
She's argued that hate speech fuels real violence, making her and others targets. She's been vocal about feeling unsafe, especially amid rising threats and violent incidents.
