The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has launched a probe after a video emerged online showing a group of Israeli soldiers dancing along with young Palestinians while on patrol in the occupied West Bank's troubled city of Hebron.

The Givati Brigade soldiers were believed to be making their rounds in the area to investigate loud music coming from a party while they decided to join in the celebrations. The clip was uploaded with the title "Israeli soldiers dancing at a Palestinian wedding in Hebron".

It shows them dancing while clad in full gear - including helmets, vests and weapons - to the beat of the Gangnam Style song by Psy.

At one point, one soldier can be seen hoisted up on the shoulder of a partygoer.

An IDF official stated that "the clip has been taken down from the web, and the soldiers that were involved and participated in the party have been suspended pending an investigation."

Hebron has been a flashpoint of violence between Israelis and Palestinians for decades.

Channel 2 said that the club was frequented by members of a Palestinian clan known for its pro-Hamas tendencies. It said the IDF considers the incident with utmost gravity.
