A burst tire caused fears further bomb attacks were underway in Indonesian capital Jakarta, following terror attacks earlier in the day which left two civilians and five attackers dead.

Reuters cited Indonesian television television claiming that more explosions had been heard in the city following gun and bomb attacks near the UN offices, however a military official at the scene said that the alert had been caused by a burst tire.

Earlier, police said that the situation in the capital was under control, after the attacks in a busy shopping and administrative area in the centre of the city.

Initial reports claimed that up to 14 attackers were involved in the attacks, and police were hunting those who escaped. Police subsequently claimed that the attackers had been killed and the attacks were over.
