Kristen Stewart braved the cameras for her first public appearance since news broke of her affair with Rupert Sanders, when she turned out for the Toronto International Film Festival. Stewart was promoting her new film On The Road.

The relationship with Sanders, the British director of Snow White and the Huntsman (starring Stewart), put an end to the 22-year-old actress's long-term relationship with boyfriend Robert Pattinson and led to several reports suggesting the two may not even work together for the promotion of their film - Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II.

However, the actress has now confirmed the two have a professional understanding.

"We're going to be fine," she said while attending the Toronto Film Festival, "We're totally fine. I was a little nervous, obviously. I'm always nervous before a red carpet.

"To be honest, I was just kind of telling myself, like, just don't back out. Be there, don't just figuratively put your head down and barrel through it. Be there, appreciate it," she said. "Luckily, very, very much I was able to do that."

Stewart, who was joined by director Walter Salles and co-stars Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund, said she never considered missing the festival.

"We have been waiting for this thing to be unleashed for so long. It was sort of one of those situations where you just have to put yourself in your body and go appreciate the moment," she explained.

Cuddly Comforts

Meanwhile, regardless of any professional understanding the two may have, it seems Stewart still misses her ex-boyfriend. Radaronline reports she brought with her a collection of soft toys given to her by Pattinson, on the Toronto trip.

"Kristen is latching on to all the things that she associates with Robert and now she can't be without her stuffed animals. Over the years, Robert, who was a hopeless romantic, bought Kristen plushies whenever he saw one he thought she would love. She is obsessed with them and has them scattered all over her bed; they're a sweet reminder of how he cared for her," a source told the entertainment website. "But now, as they're no longer together, they've become more of a security blanket for Kristen, so she took a collection of her favorite teddy bears with her to Toronto."
