Marc Bartra
Marc Bartra says he's ready to sign a new deal with Barcelona after a positive start to the season.

Barcelona starlet Marc Bartra has cleared up the speculation regarding his future with the Tottenham and Liverpool target claiming he wants to sign a new deal with his current club.

After making just 14 appearances for the Catalan giants in the 2012-13 season Bartra was believed to be considering a move away from the club as he entered into the final 12 months of his current contract.

Tottenham and Liverpool are amongst a host of clubs who are reportedly interested in the 22 year old, particularly as he continues to improve for Barcelona, and it would appear that the Premier League clubs are willing to fight for his signature.

But after making 8 starts in 10 appearances in total for the Catalan giants this season Bartra says he feels more comfortable with his current side and wants to sign a new deal.

"I am calm," he told Mundo Deportivo. "My renewal is on the right path. I'm happy because I've played more games this season than at the same point last year.

"The club has given me everything. I hope to be here for many years and to succeed."

Bartra made the move from Barcelona's youth squad into the reserve team in 2009 and stepped up with the seniors at the beginning of 2010.

His defensive abilities had seemingly done enough to attract the attention of Liverpool and Tottenham, who are both looking to add more depth for their squads in the January transfer window with hope of challenging for a top four place.

The Reds are currently second in the table after a wildly successful start to their season while Andre Villas-Boas' men have had a mixed run so far, being thrashed by Manchester City 6-0 but recently recovering to take sixth spot.

But the clubs will likely have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements with Bartra settled and happy at Barcelona.
