Earlier today (20 October) the agent of Lynda Bellingham confirmed that the cancer-stricken actress and TV presenter had died at the age of 66.

Bellingham was best known for her recurring role in a series of adverts for Oxo, as well as parts in The Bill, At Home With The Braithwaites and All Creatures Great and Small.

In response to the news, fans of the Loose Women regular have now rallied behind a call for a Christmas Oxo advert in which she starred to be re-run later this year in tribute.

The idea stems from a comment written on the ITV News Facebook page from Helen Scanlan, which read: "I think it would be a wonderful gesture to her family if the old Oxo adverts were screened over Christmas.

"Lynda didn't make it to Christmas but she remains in the nations' hearts. Prayers to her family and friends."

A Facebook page was quickly set up with many people continuing to join.

The ad in question, which first aired in 1984, can be seen below...

Bellingham had elected to stop her cancer treatment for the sake of her family after the disease spread to her lungs and liver.

In a statement written on behalf of the Bellingham family, her agent Sue Latimer said: "Lynda died peacefully in her husband's arms yesterday at a London hospital. Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff for their tremendous care and support.

"Actor, writer and presenter - to the end Lynda was a consummate professional."
