Manchester City host Burnley at the Eithad stadium on Sunday as they look to keep the pressure on Chelsea who have a tough trip to Southampton.

Where to watch

Kick-off is set for 3pm GMT. Highlights of the game will be available on BBC Match of the Day on BBC One from 10:25pm GMT.

Overview

Manchester City have been in top form off late, scoring goals for fun and look determined to close the gap on Chelsea who are three points ahead on top of the table. The reigning champions are unwilling to give up without a fight and will be looking to seize any opportunity that the frenetic week of fixtures let their way.

City have won their last nine games in all competitions, hence will leave nothing to chance and will want to go up in the game as it begins. City come into the game on the back of a 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns and manager Manuel Pellegrini will be concerned only of the lack of strikers in the squad as Edin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic and Sergio Aguero are all out due to injuries.

Midfielders are taking the responsibility in their absence but Jovetic's imminent return will give Pellegrini some much needed respite in this crowded fixture list.

Meanwhile, Burnley come into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the Turf Moor. Sean Dyche will be disappointed as his side dominated the first half of the game, and were punished for not taking their chances after Raheem Sterling scored the winner in the second-half.

What managers say

Manuel Pellegrini: "Jovetic was on the bench so maybe he will be fit for Sunday. We'll see [on Saturday] and have 48 hours to decide. He was available to play today without any problem but it wasn't important for him to play and the pitch was difficult for a muscle injury."

Sean Dyche [on Vokes' return]: "Fantastic. You could tell by the reaction of the fans. But it's only another step in his bigger picture of being fully fit. That's another little part of his journey back. He's not there yet. He was ready to be involved in the squad but not quite ready to start - he's not a million miles off. That feeling of what it is to be in the first team picture is a big part of his journey back.
