Manchester United have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Ajax to sign their versatile player Daley Blind on Saturday.

The 24-year-old played under the Red Devils' manager Louis van Gaal for the Netherlands during the World Cup in Brazil, where the Dutch side finished third in the summer tournament.

"Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Daley Blind, subject to a medical and personal terms. A further announcement will be made when the process is complete," a statement read on Manchester United's official website.

The deal is subjected to personal terms and medical and the Dutch star will complete his move to Old Trafford in the coming days. Blind can play as a left-back, defensive midfielder and a left wing-back for Van Gaal's side.

The Dutch international becomes United's fifth major signing of this transfer window. The 20-time English champions have already secured deals for Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera, England international Luke Shaw, defender Marcos Rojo, and Angel Di Maria.

The Argentine international arrived at Old Trafford on Tuesday for a British record fee of £59.7m from Real Madrid. Di Maria will start the Premier League game against Burnley on Saturday, which will be his debut in United shirt.
