Manchester United record signing Angel Di Maria is 100% confident the Old Trafford club will secure a good result at Liverpool on 22 March amid his expected return to action from a one-match suspension.

The Argentina international was replaced by Juan Mata for the impressive 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur after being sent off during the FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Arsenal.

After United flourished during his absence, manager Louis van Gaal faces a dilemma on whether to hand his record signing a starting role at Anfield.

With Marouane Fellaini lately becoming a crucial figure for the Dutch boss, either Juan Mata or Ashley Young could be sacrificed to make space for the Argentine.

Di Maria is confident he will return to the starting line-up to help his side keep pushing for a final spot in the the Premier League top four, with United yet to play against Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.

"We are all aware that a number of big games are just around the corner, and the season will be decided by these fixtures," he said. "We know all about these upcoming games and we have been thinking and talking about them for quite some time now. We've known that everything would be at stake over this final period of the season.

The Argentina international won the Champions League at Real Madrid just before his 2014 summer move to Old Trafford and is hoping to play in the elite European competition with United next season.

He said: "Everyone at the club is 100% confident, we know we want to get back into the Champions League and that we want to be fighting it out. We'll battle hard right to the end of the season. From what I know of the club, United always fight right to the end and that's what we're going to do."
