Manchester United are reportedly targeting upcoming star Lucas Silva from Brazilian club Cruzeiro.

According to the Express, Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster his injury ravaged midfield and is willing to sanction a move for the Brazilian midfielder, who has put in some impressive performances for his club.

United are on the verge of signing Angel di Maria from Real Madrid for a British-record fee of £64m, after the Daily Mail reported that the player had arrived at Carrington to complete the formalities of the deal.

Van Gaal is now keen to add more steel to his midfield, after being unimpressed by the players at his disposal following lack luster performances in the opening two Premier League games of this season.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who is said to be available for a fee in the region of £8m, has admitted his desire to play for a big club in Europe. But the midfielder has made it clear that he will not force a move away from his current employers.

"I have the dream of playing in Europe, but I don't want to leave Cruzeiro the wrong way," Silva said, as quoted by the Express.

"I was developed by Cruzeiro. If it's not something good for me or Cruzerio, it won't be bad to stay here," he added.

Silva is certain that his agents will handle all the work regarding the transfer, and believes that as long as he does well on the pitch, he will be talked about outside of Brazil.

"My agents make me aware when there is something, when some teams talk or make contact," the Cruzeiro midfielder continued.

"They assure me they handle this and that I have to worry about what happens on the pitch. I have to do my work well at Cruzeiro so people will still talk about me outside Brazil," Silva added.

However, United are not the only club interested and will face competition from Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, who are also keen on landing the young Brazilan midfielder.
