Overview

Milton Keynes Dons welcome Manchester United for the second round glamour tie in the Capital One Cup. The Buckinghamshire club reached the second round following a comfortable 3-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon in round one.

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson is a good 30 years younger than his Manchester United counter-part and is a big fan of the Dutchman as well.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are playing in the second round of the league cup after almost a period of 20 years. Louis van Gaal will be taking charge in his third competitive match as United boss, but is still searching for his first win. The Red Devils have had a dreadful start in the Premier League, and the cup game will come as a welcome break, and a chance to get back to winning ways.

The Old Trafford club made it to the semi-finals of the competition last year, where they lost to Sunderland on penalties.

What the Managers Say

Karl Robinson (MK Dons): I don't to mean to sound a little bit silly but these are nights that you do not forget for the rest of your life, regardless of where my career goes, if it does or does not go anywhere. I believe in what I do, in my own ability, in my staff, in the way I want to play, and it will be an opportunity for me. But I will have to take a breath at some stage and think, 'This is a little bit surreal'. People keep saying to me, 'What is your gameplan?' I am going to church and I will say a few prayers."

Louis van Gaal (Manchester United):[post the draw against Sunderland] "We were dominating but you need creative passing in the last third and that was also not so good. We do not want to be dominating without creating chances. Creating chances and making goals is the purpose of a game. We must improve the passing."
