Microsoft seeds new update for Xbox One to prepare for Windows 10 UI Reuters/Lucy Nicholson

Microsoft is rolling out a new operating system version 6.2.13326.0 (xb_rel_1508 13326.0.150810-2029) for the Xbox One.

This release does not contain any new feature, but there are minor fixes to the party chat feature of Xbox One and prepares the console for the new update featuring Windows 10 UI experience that is scheduled for release in November.

The Xbox team is hard at work building and fine tuning the new Xbox One user experience that will be unveiled to the preview community this Fall. This update will help us to get your console ready to receive the new experience.

To check the operating system version of your Xbox One

  • Press Xbox button to return to Home
  • Press Menu button and select Settings (or select Settings on the home screen)
  • Select System
  • Select Console info
  • You should see the OS version in the third row down

If you are in the middle of a system update and need the OS version running your console, pull both triggers and bumpers on the controller. You should notice the OS version is listed as Build and is the second line down.

At the Xbox press conference at the Gamescom 2015 trade fair earlier this month, Microsoft said the revamped dashboard for Xbox One with free-for-backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games would come in November. A significant feature of the updated dashboard is the use of Windows 10.
