The body of a missing student has been discovered in woodland.

Hannah Webster, who was studying banking and finance at Essex University, was reported missing on Thursday (12 May).

Police launched a search for the 20-year-old, who was originally from Dewsbury in Yorkshire, following concerns for her welfare.

Details of the missing student were retweeted on social media in the hope of finding her. However, her body was discovered by police at 12.10pm in woodland off a cycle route between East Hill and The Hythe in Colchester, reports Mail Online. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "Formal identification has yet to take place but Hannah's next of kin have been informed."
