Qualifying Review

Dovizioso was the fastest during the qualifying session of the Motul Grand Prix of Japan after the Italian rider clocked a time of 1:44.502s. Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi will start the race from second spot as he was 0.055s behind the Ducati rider.

Honda's Dani Pedrosa was third and he along with Rossi and Dovizioso will lock horns for the front row. The championship leader will start from fourth and Marquez may have to wait till the next race in Australia to clinch the title, if he fails to win at Motegi.

It should be seen whether if Marquez can try to win his 12th race of the season and should he manage to do it, the Honda rider will be able to defend his championship and will win his second title.

Rossi's teammate Jorge Lorenzo had a time of 1:44.784s and will start Sunday's race from fifth spot.
