President Donald Trump is becoming 'more dangerous' as his mental state reportedly deteriorates, according to a Nobel Peace Prize-winning psychiatrist who has called for his removal from office.

Dr Henry David Abraham, who shared the 1985 Nobel with International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, told a radio show this week that the 80-year-old commander-in-chief now poses a heightened risk, particularly given his sole authority over the US nuclear arsenal.

A Pattern of Concern About Donald Trump

Abraham was among 36 physicians who, in April, signed an open letter entered into the Congressional Record urging invocation of the 25th Amendment over what they described as a 'marked deterioration in cognitive functioning' and 'severely impaired judgment and impulse control.'

The group said they had not examined Trump personally but had 'closely followed his behaviour and his statements.'

On The Dean Obeidallah Show this Wednesday, the host asked whether anything had changed since April. 'Yeah, if anything it's worse,' Abraham replied, adding that while much of it is 'more of the same', repeated confirmatory evidence leaves little doubt about the trajectory.

He argued that symptoms which would disqualify an airline pilot or neurosurgeon from high-stakes work are effectively tolerated in the White House because presidential health is wrapped in 'a shroud of secrecy.'

The stakes, he said, are existential. 'When a person has sole access to the nuclear armamentaria, it's crazy, and this is what we're doing,' Abraham told Obeidallah.

'I think we're in even more danger of Donald Trump using a nuclear weapon in a fit of pique or rage or confusion or poor impulse control than ever before. So yes, he's more dangerous.'

White House Rejects Claims About Donald Trump

The administration has pushed back hard. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told The Daily Beast that 'President Trump is the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history', dismissing Abraham as a 'Trump-deranged loser engaging in armchair diagnosis for political purposes' and 'a disgrace to the medical profession.'

In separate comments to other outlets, Ingle has accused critics of breaking the Hippocratic Oath by speculating for political gain.

The physicians' letter itself acknowledges it is based on observed public behaviour rather than a clinical examination, and the White House has not released updated, detailed medical records addressing the specific concerns raised.

What the Doctors Allege, and What Comes Next

The April letter cited a litany of red flags: disorganised and tangential speech, rambling digressions, factual confusions, sudden strategic pivots, episodes of apparent somnolence in public, and 'grandiose and delusional beliefs', including imagery of himself as the Pope, a combat pilot and even Jesus on Truth Social.

It also pointed to reckless threats of violence against civilians as evidence of impaired impulse control.

Abraham has expressed scepticism about Trump's boasts of acing cognitive screening tests, noting the low probability of a perfect score even for healthy adults.

Looking ahead, he suggested that if Democrats gain control of the House, they should move beyond rhetoric: 'They should have hearings... letters, and... subpoenas, and... investigations, and probably... try to invoke the 25th Amendment or impeach the president.'

For now, the debate is less about diagnosis and more about transparency. If an airline pilot with half these symptoms would be grounded, why is the threshold different for the one person who can order a nuclear strike in minutes? Wild, perhaps, but that is the question hanging over Washington.
