Glen Johnson
Johnson faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Brendan Rodgers has revealed.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Glen Johnson will be out of action for an indefinite period as the defender continues to struggle with ongoing injuries.

Johnson's form has been questioned by many in recent months with the England international not looking at his best while the Red's have suffered a minor injury crisis to their back line.

Lucas Leiva was recently ruled out for two months with a knee injury while Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique are equally stuck on the sidelines and Mamadou Sakho has been suffering from a hamstring problem.

This left a lot of pressure on Johnson to lead the line for Liverpool's defenders and Rodgers now admits that he was also playing through injury and faces a lengthy spell off the pitch.

"We've got a few that have been ill this week and one or two have been struggling with injury," Rodgers told reporters, via the Liverpool Echo.

"Glen has played a lot of the season having been injured and really put himself out for the team, but unfortunately he's struggled a lot with a number of injuries.

"He's had a real bad ankle for a period of time and one or two other issues that just haven't allowed him to be 100%.

"I think everyone has seen over many years the speed, fluency and how good he's been, but for part of this season he's been restricted and that's obviously been difficult for him.

"I just think it's now at that point where we need to get him right. The timeline he'll be out will be indefinitely really. We'll just need to assess it and see how quickly he comes through that."

Liverpool's defensive issues look to be having an affect on their performances with the side conceding five goals in their last two matches, Simon Mignolet looks to have suffered from a crisis of confidence in recent matches and with Jon Flanagan also having injury problems it would appear that Rodgers has limited options for his backline.
