The match starts at 1pm BST. Live coverage will be available on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports 3 HD. Real-time internet updates and the live streaming link are available on ATP's official website.

Overview

Federer has not managed to get his hands on the Shanghai Masters in his career and the Swiss tennis ace is aware that he has a very good opportunity to win his first title this year, especially with Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray already out of the competition.

The 33-year-old had a tough start to the tournament against Leonardo Mayer as he won the match on the tie breaker in the final set. The match ended with a scoreline of 7-5, 3-6, 7-6. Federer won his last match comfortably as he registered a victory over Roberto Bautista Agut to make it to the quarter finals.

The former World No 1's Friday's opponent Benneteau also had much easier wins in the second and third round of the Shanghai Masters. He won the last two matches in straight sets, defeating Grigor Dimitrov and Jack Sock respectively.

The Frenchman would be looking for an upset on Friday as a victory over Federer will see him make it to the last four of the ongoing tournament.

Head-To-Head

Federer holds a lead of 5-2 over Benneteau in overall meetings. The pair have clashed in three Grand Slam events and the Swiss tennis ace came out victorious on all occasions. In the last five meetings, Federer has a 3-2 lead over Benneteau.

Shanghai Masters History

Federer has never faced Benneteau in the Shanghai Masters and the pair will face each other for the first time on Friday.
