Overview

Federer has won the Paris Masters only once in his career, which came in 2011. The World No 2 is one of the firm favourites to win the tournament this season as he made it to the last six of the BNP Paribas Masters.

The Swiss tennis star had a tough start in Paris as Jeremy Chardy came close to knock him in the second round. The first and the second sets were decided on a tie breaker as the scores were level after the end of the second set.

However, Federer came back stronger in the final set to win the match 7-6, 6-7, 6-4. A win on Thursday will help him inch closer towards a place in the finals.

Meanwhile, Pouille defeated Fabio Fognini on Wednesday to seal a place in the third round against Federer. The 20-year-old defeated the Italian in straight sets and it was not an easy match for the Frenchman.

Pouille won both the sets on a tie breaker as he won the match 7-6, 7-6. After defeating Fognini, he would be hoping for another win over the former World No 2 in the third round clash on Thursday.
