Disgraced former TV star Rolf Harris has been stripped of his CBE, it has been claimed.

Harris, 84, was jailed for five years and nine months for 12 counts of indecent assault against four women aged seven or eight to 19 at the time of the crimes between 1968 and 1986. One of the victims he preyed upon was his own daughter's best friend.

An official announcement in the London Gazette stated: "The Queen has directed that the appointment of Rolf Harris to be a Commander of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, dated 17 June 2006, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order."

It is the latest humiliation for the former entertainer, who has also been stripped of his national honours by Australia's governor general. A statement released in February read: "It is notified that the governor-general has terminated the appointments of Officer and Member of the Order of Australia in the General Division made to Mr Rolf Harris."
