The sequel to Samsung's Tizen powered Gear S2 smartwatch dubbed Gear S3 is likely to pack a rotary bezel, which means it will have a round face like its predecessor.

It will not take too long to hit the market, as according to exclusive information shared by Sammobile, Samsung has chosen the IFA 2016 trade fair to launch the wearable device. The IFA event is scheduled to take place from 2 to 7 September in Berlin.

Samsung traditionally uses this event to launch the Galaxy Note series, but as the company has moved the launch of Note to an earlier date, the Gear S3 is expected to be one of the major announcements from Samsung at this year's IFA. Even the current Gear S2 was launched last year at the same event.

Samsung is said to have filed a trademark for "Gear S3 Frontier" in South Korea. While there is no word on what Frontier stands for, the trademark details are mentioned under Designated Goods section of the application including smartwatches, smartwatches to make mobile payments, wearable computers and computer interfaces, namely software interfaces with multi health devices to record health conditions. These details hint the Gear S3 could be equipped with improved health and tracking features and compatible with Samsung Pay.

Along with the regular variant of Gear S3, expect the limited edition of the smartwatch as well for which Samsung has reportedly teamed up with Swiss jewellery and watchmaker De Grisogono. This Gear S3 limited edition is expected at the Baselworld March 2017 event, an international watch and jewellery trade show held in Basel, Switzerland, annually.
