The results are in and Scots have decided to opt out of independence

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond conceded defeat in the referendum, but added that the he expected the unionist parties to honour their vow to devolve more powers to Scotland 'in rapid course'.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said that the result vindicated his decision to offer Scots a straight 'Yes' or 'No' vote to independence on the ballot paper, as now, 'the debate has been settled for a generation'.
