At the Smart Nation Innovations conference in Singapore, startups, universities and research institutes gathered to show off their latest inventions.

On display was everything from the world's first solar-powered 3D printed car, to a new device that can virtually simulate different taste sensations through a spoon.

It forms part of Singapore's bid to transform itself into the world's first smart nation by setting itself up as a test bed for new and emerging technologies that can help improve the country's transport, environment and healthcare.
