Spitalfields Market bomb: Unexploded WWII device found at construction site in east London

What is believed to be an unexploded war-time bomb has been found by construction workers at a site in East London. Explosives officers are at the scene on Commercial Street at the junction with Brushfield Street, near Spitalfields Market.
Local businesses have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Police are advising people to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 9.44pm on Thursday 12 November to reports of ordnance discovered by construction workers at a site on Commercial Street at the junction with Brushfield Street E1.
"Cordons are in place. Local businesses have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Explosives officers are on scene."
Update: The ordnance has now been safely removed from the site by explosives officers and all cordons were lifted by 11.45am.
