Pakistani Arrested on Terrorism Charge in Birmingham Makes Bail

A 22-year-old student arrested at Birmingham Airport on suspicion of carrying a terrorist document has been released on bail.

The Pakistani national, who is studying in the UK, was detained on Monday under section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000 - suspicion of being in possession of a document likely to be of use to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

The man, who was returning to the UK from Dubai, was arrested and taken to a local police station.

"The arrest was not as a result of any ongoing investigation and there was no immediate threat to the public," a police spokesman said.
