The book written Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani teenage activist who was shot in the head by the Taliban, went on sale in New York City on Tuesday (October 8).

"I Am Malala" is the story of Malala Yousafzai, who was shot at point blank range on October 9, 2012 while riding the bus home from school.

She was shot for demanding education for girls. Fifteen-years old af the time, few expected her to survive.

The book is about Malala's extraordinary survival and her journey from a schoolgirl in northern Pakistan to a worldwide symbol of protest.

During a speech at the United Nations on her 16th birthday, dubbed 'Malala Day', Malala said she would not bow to terrorists who thought they could silence her.

The schoolgirl now lives in Birmingham, England and still faces Taliban threats.
