Talks Over AVB's Future With Tottenham Board Revealed – Report

Andre Villas-Boas will have to prove himself this month in order to keep his job as Tottenham manager after crunch-talks took place with the board, reports claim.

Villas-Boas' job has been under the microscope in recent weeks on the back of the side being thrashed 6-0 by Manchester City, with his tactics and spending in the summer being questioned.

Tottenham are jus three points behind fourth placed Liverpool but after spending over £100m on new talent there is a belief that their style of football and lack of goals have led to Daniel Levy being unsatisfied with Villas-Boas this season and the Evening Standard are claiming that the Portuguese tactician has had talks with the board as a result.

In the discussions it is reported that Villas-Boas was told he must prove himself in his next seven fixtures and at the turn of the year a decision will be made over his future.

Tottenham recovered from the heavy loss to Manchester City with a draw against Manchester United and wins in the Europa League and against Fulham.

Their come-from-behind victory over the Cottagers was a particular highlight with the Tottenham squad publicly saying they support their manager after the win.

But it would appear that Levy believes Spurs are capable of more than simply finishing fourth this season, particularly after bringing seven new players into the fray in the summer.

Having lost Gareth Bale during that time though the manager will need to be given time to adapt and with a plethora of midfielders available - Villas-Boas signed four new players for the middle of the park - it would appear that the manager is yet to finalise his favoured starting XI as the signings settle in at White Hart Lane.
