Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is confident Christian Eriksen will sign a new contract with the club. The Danish midfielder was a key component in Spurs' outstanding campaign last season and Pochettino is eager to keep hold of him.

The former Ajax star currently has two years remaining on his deal at White Hart Lane, but the Tottenham boss has insisted he is relaxed about Eriksen's contract situation. The 24-year-old is reportedly seeking a dramatic improvement on his current contract, which is worth around £32,000-a-week, according to The Mirror.

"We are happy with him and he's very happy here," the Tottenham manager explained. "We'll see what happens in the next few weeks. He has two more years, he's happy here. It's just a question of time to agree a new contract."

Last week, Eriksen blasted a report which suggested he was demanding a new deal worth £150,000-per-week. Indeed, the Dane took to Twitter following Tottenham's 1-1 against Everton on the opening day of the season to shoot down the claims.

"Not the result we wanted! But still one point and great support from the fans. And dont believe everyting u read on the internet (sic)," the Tottenham midfielder said.
