Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is reportedly stalling on signing his new contract as the club are not willing to match his salary demands.

According to the London Evening Standard, the rising midfield star of Tottenham is seeking a contract which will see him earn the same amount as top stars Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane.

The north London club are said to be confident of tying down the Algerian international to a new long-term contract but are currently unable to find common ground regarding the wages for the player.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who currently has three years remaining on his current deal is said to want £40,000-a-week, but the club are currently offering him £25,000-a-week, which is considerably more than the £8,000-a-week he currently earns.

Bentaleb, who has been impressive, has made the holding midfielder's role his own at the club alongside another youngster Ryan Mason. The latter also committed to a new contract earlier in the season and is said to be earning the same as the Algerian international has been offered.

Bentaleb's performances for Tottenham this season has attracted interest from other clubs and the report claims that Juventus are monitoring his contract situation and will make a move if his talks with Spurs come to a standstill.

However, the White Hart Lane outfit are confident that Bentaleb, who signed for Spurs in 2012, will sign a new contract sooner rather than later.

Apart from Bentaleb and Mason, Tottenham have also tied down star striker Harry Kane to a new deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

Mauricio Pochettino has made his mark by giving opportunities to the young players at the club, and they have paid him back with impressive performances, and the manager is making sure that they are all tied down to new long-term deals.
